Euros report

11 Aug 2019

27 teams from the UK, France, Italy and Belgium made the journey to the English Riviera for the 2019 Eurocup/UK Nationals hosted by Royal Torbay Yacht Club (RTYC) and a great event it turned out to be. This year was the first time in the class's history that the Eurocup was held in the UK and to help put on a good show the event was sponsored by Stroma and Rooster. Continue reading here....

Hayling Report

29 May 2019

Six 4000s joined the Hayling Island SC Whitsun Regatta for what turned out to be a brilliant event, attended by almost 200 boats of different classes racing across multiple course areas. Both days’ racing took place out in the bay and the weather couldn’t have delivered much more – sun and a good breeze on Saturday and then a little more breeze but a little less sun on Sunday. John and Fran were the first 4000 in race 1 on Saturday, with Matt and Pierre Andrea being the second. Race 2 saw Martin and Tom start strongly in clear air and hold that lead for quite a while before being pipped by locals Doug and Hillary and then Neil and Jo on the last lap of the race. Day 2 again saw close racing with Doug and Hillary and Matt and Pierre each taking a first and Neil and Jo consistently being the second 4000 across the line.  Mark and Kev were in the mix throughout finishing as fourth 4000 overall (with the 4000 results extracted from the fleet). On the same basis just one point separated the top three boats after the discard, congratulations to Doug and Hilary for being 4000 #1 and to Matt and Pierre Andrea as #2, same points as but ahead of Jo and Neil grace of a higher best finish!

Series results so far are here; onwards to the French Nationals and then next series event at Grafham!

Thank you to HISC for a brilliant event and an awesome regatta tea!

2019 Series UPDATE

05 May 2019

The 2019 series has kicked off, but the big events are still to come. We now have 5 UK boats heading to France at the start of June for the French Nationals (still time to book the ferry if you want to come!) and preparations are in swing for the Europeans in Torquay. If you're coming to the Whitsun regatta at Hayling make sure you get your entry in, same for Weymouth as soon as that opens. In addition there's a full programme of match racing events at Rutland, with dates here.
